Private Family Tours of Scotland from Edinburgh

Your family only, in our own minibus — free baby, child and booster seats, breaks whenever you need them, and a driver-guide who's great with children.

Families are our most popular travellers — and a private tour is the easiest way to see Scotland with children. There's no coach timetable and no strangers: the minibus is yours for the day, we stop when you need to, and the itinerary bends around your family, not the other way round.

Why Families Choose a Private Tour

Your family only

Every tour is private to your group of up to 8 — never shared with strangers, so children can be themselves.

Free car seats

One baby seat, one child seat and one booster seat, free when reserved in advance — your guide helps fit them.

Breaks when you need them

Toilet stops, snack stops, a run around by a loch — your driver-guide stops whenever your family needs to.

Door-to-door

We collect you from your Edinburgh hotel or apartment and bring you back — no luggage-laden trips to a coach station.

Stops children love

Highland cows, Nessie-hunting, the Harry Potter bridge, the giant Kelpies and fruit-farm play areas.

Arabic-speaking guides

Waseem and Ahmad both speak Arabic, so Arabic-speaking families can enjoy the day in their own language.

What Families Say

"If you are looking for a seamless, enriching, and stress-free way to experience the Scottish Highlands, look no further. Our family recently spent a full day touring from Edinburgh, and the experience exceeded every expectation we had. From the moment we were picked up, it was clear we were in expert hands. Traveling with a large family--including young children--can often be a logistical challenge, but our guide was perfectly prepared. He provided car seats that were already properly installed, saving us a massive amount of stress. Even when the Scottish weather turned predictably "moody," his driving was steady and professional; we felt completely safe and at ease despite the wind and rain. What truly set this tour apart was the depth of knowledge shared throughout the day. Waseem didn't just recite facts; he told the story of Scotland with a passion for history that kept everyone engaged. He had a remarkable ability to bring the landscapes to life, connecting the scenery to the clans and events that shaped the country. He also went above and beyond by tailoring the itinerary on the fly to make sure we saw the highlights that mattered most to us. He made special stops so we could get up close with some iconic Highland cows, which was a huge hit for the kids, and coordinated a fantastic visit to a local distillery for the adults. Kind, dependable, and incredibly accommodating, he treated our family with genuine warmth. He anticipated our needs before we even had to ask, making the entire day feel personal and relaxed. I cannot recommend this guide highly enough. If you want a dependable professional who genuinely cares about your experience, this is the person to book. 10/10!"

"We had an amazing experience on our private tour to Loch Ness! Waseem was absolutely fantastic - very knowledgeable, patient, and friendly. He explained the history of Scotland beautifully during the journey and kept us engaged throughout. I was traveling with kids who were continuously talking and sometimes disturbing the tour, but he handled them with so much patience and made us all feel completely comfortable. We also had elderly family members with limited mobility, and he was extremely considerate, arranging extra stops so they could rest and enjoy the trip at their own pace. Thanks to his guidance, we felt relaxed and free to enjoy the entire experience. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a well-informed, kind, and accommodating guide for a Loch Ness tour!"

"Fantastic day! Our guide Waseem was a fountain of knowledge (he has his masters in tourism!) and was fun and kind. He made our 4 year old feel included as well, he is great with kids. The stops were breath taking, and Waseem had so much information on the history of the land. The Mercedes van was very comfortable and Waseem had car seats for infants and small children in the trunk. My 75 year old mother-in-law had the best time and the stops were easy for her to maneuver with a bad hip. The day far exceeded our expectations and we were genuinely sad to say goodbye to Waseem at the end. My daughter asked if he was free the next day to join us on our vacation! :) This was worth every penny. THANK YOU WASEEM!"

From start to finish, he was incredibly accommodating, ensuring that everyone in our group, including our kids, had a comfortable and enjoyable experience. His extensive knowledge and detailed explanations of the history and subjects related to the tour added immense value and insight to our visit. Mr. Waseem was also very understanding of our need to make frequent stops for the children, showing patience and kindness throughout the tour. Yes. We provide one free baby seat, one child seat and one booster seat — please reserve them when you book, and your guide will help fit them. Under UK law, children need a suitable car seat until they're 12 years old or 135 cm tall, whichever comes first.
Our shorter days work best: Stirling, Perth & The Kelpies and St Andrews & Fife are both back by around 3:00 PM, and Loch Lomond is our gentlest full day at about 9 hours. The 11-hour Loch Ness and Glenfinnan days suit children who are happy with longer drives.
Our prices are per private group of up to 8, not per person — so a family of 6 or 8 pays the same as a couple. Day tours work out from £87 per person for a full group of 8.
Yes — our founder Waseem and driver-guide Ahmad both speak Arabic, so Arabic-speaking families can enjoy the whole day in their own language. Just let us know when you book.
You can cancel up to 24 hours before your booking's start time (UK time) for a full refund. No refunds are given after that. If we ever have to cancel your booking ourselves because of bad weather, road closures or other circumstances beyond our control, you'll receive a full refund.
