Privacy Policy

Last updated: 19 October 2026

This policy explains what personal information Linktours Scotland collects when you use our website, enquire or book with us, how we use and protect it, your rights, and the cookies this website uses. It should be read together with our Terms & Conditions.

Who we are

Linktours Scotland Ltd is a private tour operator based in Edinburgh, registered in Scotland (Companies House no. SC772699), with its registered office at 5 South Charlotte Street, Edinburgh, Scotland, EH2 4AN. We are the data controller for the personal information described here, which means we decide how and why it is used. You can contact us about anything in this policy at admin@linktours.co.uk.

What we collect and why

Children's information

Our website and services are aimed at adults booking for themselves or their family, and we don't knowingly collect personal information directly from children. Parents or guardians may tell us children's ages or car-seat needs so that we can plan a safe, comfortable tour; we use this only for that booking. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we'll delete it.

Our legal basis

Under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), we use enquiry and booking information to take steps you've asked for and to provide the tour or transfer you've booked (contract), and to keep proper business and accounting records (legal obligation and legitimate interests). We use analytics cookies only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

We'll only send you marketing emails if you've agreed to receive them, and you can opt out at any time by replying to the email or contacting us.

Who we share it with

We never sell your information. We share it only with the services that help us run the business:

If you booked through a travel agent or online travel agency, they share your booking details with us so we can run your tour; their own privacy policy covers what they do with your information.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it — for example to a court, the police or another public authority — or where it's needed to protect the rights, property or safety of our guests, our team or others.

International transfers

We are based in the UK and process your information here. Some of the providers above may process data outside the UK; where they do, it is protected by the safeguards required by UK data protection law.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry and booking information only as long as we need it to arrange your tour, deal with any questions afterwards, and meet our accounting and legal obligations, and then delete it. Google Analytics data is kept for a limited period and is not linked to your name.

Keeping it secure

Our website uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, card payments are handled entirely by Stripe, and access to booking and enquiry information is limited to our team. No method of sending or storing information over the internet is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Your rights

You have the right to:

Just email us — we may ask you to confirm your identity first. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
